Originally built as a private home in 1896 for $250,000, The Southernmost House was made into a Cuban nightclub called Café Cayo Hueso in 1939. In 1954, it became a private home again and stayed that way until 1996. It was then that a $3 million restoration was done, changing it into a hotel.
