Our guides will entice sharks to swim up to our tour boat by introducing a scent into the moving water around the boat. This scent will travel down-current, across flats, channels and banks for the large populations of local sharks to find. Once a shark smells the scent, its nature is to find the source of the scent and will make its way to our tour boat. Typical sharks that we encounter are bull, hammerhead, lemon, nurse, black tip and occasionally tiger sharks. This is a unique Eco-adventure where you can observe and learn about large predatory sharks in very shallow and crystal clear water.
We also come in contact with a myriad other aquatic wildlife during our shark viewing such as turtles, stingrays, dolphins, game fish and a host of birds such as cormorants, white pelicans and herons. At certain times of the year Key West is in the migratory path of raptor birds such as eagles and falcons. Our captains and guides are extremely knowledgeable about aquatic life, local birds and migratory birds in general and always enjoy discussing whatever you are seeing.
2% of all tour revenues goes to the Guy Harvey Research Institute and Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation for the research and conservation of sharks.
